Welcome to The Sketchbook, a peek into what inspires me each season! For Volume 1, I was heavily inspired by our May vacation to Saint Barth.
After initially posting this collage on my Instagram story earlier this summer, I'm typing this up in September to prepare for our upcoming website launch (yay!!), looking back at a saturated summer with hindsight, I'm able to pinpoint which purchases and bits of inspiration stood the test of time.
Warm, bold summer hues of turquoise and marigold colored my oversized sunglasses this season, and I found myself wanting to drench everything around me in them. I splurged on a yellow lace Zimmermann set (top, shorts) and let me tell you, I have put it to use! I find that if I splurge on a high quality outfit like that, especially a matching set, I will figure out endless ways to incorporate it into my wardrobe. I wore the top with my ivory Favorite Pants for my Homeworthy shoot, while the shorts are perfect with a white button down, t-shirt, or sweater. It helps that I rarely have re-wearing remorse. No judgement here for getting good use out of your clothes!!
Another staple of my summer that I plan to continue into fall are layers of necklaces. I purchased a few before St. Bart's and had so much fun mixing and matching them with necklaces I already had, switching out charms, and going a little overboard with the stacking!
When shopping in St. Bart's, we came across a cute home store and I discovered a new-to-me Italian pottery brand, Studio Riviera. The bold colors and "psychedelic" spin glaze effect will transport you to the Italian coast, or St Bart's, and I am now a big fan!
Many, many interiors inspired me this summer! I chose two that embodied this "scheme of the summer" I seem to have declared. First, a blue and green bedroom vestibule by Liz Levin Interiors, featuring a Schuyler Samperton wallpaper (a favorite of mine--I have the fabric on pillows in my living room!), photographed by Stacy Zarin Goldberg.
Next, a delicious yellow, white, and rattan bathroom by Lindsey Coral Harper, photographed by Laurey W Glenn.
Somehow during this crazy summer, I was able to get some work done! I have several really fun interior design projects going on right now. In August, we installed a special project for a client of mine who took a leap of faith in me in the very, very early days of my business! It's been extremely rewarding to see that project come together over the past year and a half or so, and I'm so grateful for the client relationships that come from this job. I shared a peek into this client's powder room, and then realized it is the epitome of my Summer 2024 color scheme! We actually picked everything long before summer came around, covering the powder in an all-time favorite 'Orange Blossom' wallpaper, a fabulous Capiz-shell mirror, and some chic brass sconces -- and just wait for the new custom shades we made!
Okay, now let's see if I can get consistent about this!
