Welcome to The Sketchbook, a peek into what inspires me each season. For Volume 2, I've been inspired this fall by cozy knits, de-cluttering, and a girls trip to the new The Dunlin Auberge hotel on Kiawah Island.
The Dunlin is a beautiful new hotel located on the Kiawah River outside of Charleston. It was a perfect destination for a girls' trip, and now I'm dying to go back soon with Wyatt. We spent a day shopping around Charleston, had spa treatments at the Aster spa (my facial was incredible), and also visited the property's regenerative farm, where they raise goats, chickens, and pigs. My friend, Liza Habash, is a travel advisor and planned the entire trip for us. I highly recommend her for planning any and all trips -- she's the best!
I've been super busy on some exciting interior design projects lately, and I can't wait to share more.
Since I work from a home office, I've found I can't focus well unless the house is neat and tidy, so in between work I've been deep cleaning and organizing the entire house. It's been so nice to have more space in the closets and get things functioning better. Cappy agrees:
My organizing spree has made me very excited about Petite Keep trunks, which is such a cute way to store things that can cause clutter but you want to keep around (I have one for all of my wedding keepsakes). I think I'm going to stack a few more in the corner of our guest room, and love them for kids' rooms too. All of my re-organizing has also made me appreciate my Weezie towels even more. Even when they're folded in the linen closet, they're 10x better than the others. They're just the best -- so thick and high-quality, beautifully embroidered, and they hold up well!
With a pretty hot fall season in Texas, I've been loving a few staples: loafers (my splurge of the season) with ankle socks (these have been on repeat), mini skirts (especially this one), and a basic white tee with a sweater over the shoulders. My favorite white tee is this one from J.Crew, and my favorite sweaters are always La Ligne.
Thankfully, I got to escape the heat with two trips to Vail in August and October -- once for a wedding and once with in-laws and twin baby nephews! Colorado is so so beautiful in the fall. At the end of October, I spent the week in Dallas for Texas Design Week, an incredible week of events put on by Paper City Magazine, and to see the opening of this year's Kips Bay Showhouse.
Now back in SA just in time to gear up for the Holidays!
